AICC Announces Screening Committees

The announcement was made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K.C. Venugopal through an official press release. The statement confirmed the immediate formation of Screening Committees for five states that are set to go to the polls.

Priyanka Gandhi’s elevation to head the Assam committee reflects the Congress party’s focus on strengthening its candidate selection process and sharpening its electoral strategy in the northeastern region.

Members of the Assam Screening Committee

Joining Priyanka Gandhi on the Assam panel are senior leaders Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, Imran Masood, and Sirivella Prasad. The committee will be responsible for shortlisting candidates, conducting internal consultations, and ensuring coordination ahead of the Assembly polls.

Screening Committees for Other States

Along with Assam, the Congress has also constituted Screening Committees for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and West Bengal as part of its broader election preparations.

Ex-Officio Members Clarified

The AICC clarified that General Secretaries or In-charges, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Presidents, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leaders, and AICC Secretaries associated with the respective states will serve as ex-officio members of their Screening Committees.

Congress Gears Up for High-Stakes Polls

These appointments mark a crucial phase in the Congress party’s election planning. By assigning experienced leaders to oversee candidate selection and internal coordination, the party aims to present a united and strategically prepared front in key battleground states ahead of the Assembly elections.
