Virat Kohli Reclaims No.1 ODI Ranking as ICC Updates See Major Test & T20I Changes

Kohli Achieves No.1 Ranking for the 11th Time

With the latest update, Kohli has now reached the top spot in ODI rankings for the 11th time in his career. Since first becoming No.1 in October 2013, he has spent a total of 825 days at the peak — the most by any Indian batter.

On the all-time list, Kohli currently sits tenth, with West Indies legend Vivian Richards leading the chart after holding the No.1 ranking for an astonishing 2306 days.

Remarkable ODI Form Continues

Kohli’s return to the top has been driven by a stunning run of consistency. Before his 93 in Vadodara, he registered scores of 74*, 135, 102 and 65* in his previous four ODI appearances.

Notably, ODIs remain the only international format Kohli is currently playing, making his dominance even more impressive.

Rohit Sharma Slips, Daryl Mitchell Moves Up

Rohit Sharma, who managed just 26 in the same match, has slipped two places to No.3 in the rankings. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has risen to second after a counter-attacking 84 off 71 balls.

The margins at the top are extremely tight, with Kohli on 785 rating points, Mitchell on 784, and Rohit close behind on 775.

KL Rahul also made a modest gain, moving up one position to No.11 after his unbeaten 29 off 21 balls.

Test Rankings: Head, Smith and Starc Gain After Ashes

Australia’s dominant Ashes victory has led to major changes in the ICC Test rankings. Travis Head, the series’ leading run-scorer with 629 runs, has climbed to third among Test batters.

Steven Smith’s superb 138 in the final Test at the SCG helped him rise to fourth. England’s Joe Root and Harry Brook currently occupy the top two positions after productive series performances.

Young batter Jacob Bethell recorded one of the biggest jumps, surging 25 places to 52nd following his impressive 154 at Sydney.

Starc Stars Among Test Bowlers

Mitchell Starc’s outstanding haul of 31 wickets earned him the Player of the Series award and propelled him six spots up to third in the Test bowlers’ rankings.

Scott Boland, who claimed 20 wickets during the series, retained his seventh position on the list.

T20I Rankings: Hasaranga, Farhan Make Progress

In men’s T20Is, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga climbed to second among bowlers after a five-wicket haul against Pakistan. Sahibzada Farhan also moved up the batting rankings, rising from sixth to fifth following a half-century in the opening match.
