Bus Plunges Into Ravine in Dhading District
At least 19 people were killed after a passenger bus veered off a mountainous road and plunged nearly 200 metres into a ravine in . The accident occurred before dawn in the Behighat area of Dhading district, police officials confirmed.
Bus Was Travelling From Pokhara to Kathmandu
The bus was en route from the popular tourist city of to the capital, when it left the road. Authorities said 44 passengers were on board at the time of the crash.
Foreign Nationals Among the Victims and Injured
Police confirmed that a British citizen was among those killed. Additionally, a New Zealand national and a Chinese citizen were among the 25 passengers injured in the accident. Only nine of the deceased have been formally identified so far.
UK Government Assists Family of Victim
A spokesperson for the said officials are providing support to the family of the British national who died and are working closely with Nepali authorities.
Injured Passengers Receiving Treatment
The injured were transported to multiple hospitals in Kathmandu for medical care. Rescue operations continued for several hours due to difficult terrain and limited access to the crash site.
