₹16.72 Lakh Crore Monetisation Potential
According to official estimates, National Monetisation Pipeline 2.0 envisages an aggregate monetisation potential of ₹16.72 lakh crore over five financial years, spanning from FY 2025–26 to FY 2029–30.
This figure includes nearly ₹5.8 lakh crore expected to come from private sector participation through the monetisation of assets owned by Central ministries and public sector enterprises.
Strong Performance of NMP 1.0 Highlighted
Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister praised various ministries, departments, and NITI Aayog for achieving close to 90% of the ₹6 lakh crore target set under the first phase of the National Monetisation Pipeline.
She noted that the success of NMP 1.0 has laid a strong foundation for scaling up asset monetisation efforts in the coming years.
Aligned With Vision of Viksit Bharat
Ms Sitharaman emphasized that NMP 2.0 aligns with the government’s broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat through faster and more efficient infrastructure creation. She stated that unlocking the value of underutilised public assets would help channel investments into new projects without increasing fiscal pressure.
The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s growth momentum by improving logistics, connectivity, and overall infrastructure quality.
Key Officials Present at the Launch
The release of National Monetisation Pipeline 2.0 took place in the presence of the CEO of NITI Aayog, Secretaries of key infrastructure ministries, senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Law, and the Chief Economic Adviser.
Looking Ahead
With a significantly higher monetisation target and deeper private sector participation, NMP 2.0 is expected to play a crucial role in funding India’s next phase of infrastructure expansion while ensuring efficient use of existing public assets.
